Module Description: |
This module will enable students to understand environments that will provide children with a wide range of experiences in creative arts practices. Students will be enabled to plan and implement meaningful, integrated experiences in the visual arts, music, creative drama, and movement. They will examine picture books, fiction, drama, and poetry written for children and explore the theory, content, and practice of integrating the literary and performing arts into the learning environments. Emphasis is placed on aesthetic development of young children through picture books and poetry. Students will be immersed in the best of children’s literature and will gain a familiarity with contemporary children’s literature; with a sharpened ability to analyse and incorporate a literary text into a creative environment.
