The overall aim of this course is to introduce students to the Irish Legal System and Irish Business law through a series of lectures and group discussions involving problem solving.

• The nature and formation of a contract.
• Agreement, intention and consideration.

Introduction to Employment Law (15%)
• Contracts of employment – Formation and Terms
• Duties of employer and employee.
• Protective legislation (maternity leave, parental leave, etc)

• Employment Equality Legislation
• Termination of employment contracts (including unfair dismissal and entitlements on redundancy)
• Remedies for breach.
