Module Description: This module is designed to further develop financial accounting principles, knowledge and practices so that students can process advanced financial accounting transactions, apply financial accounting controls and prepare, interpret and report on financial statements for different types of business entities. The depth and breadth of module content and assessment are designed to gain maximum exemptions from professional accountancy bodies, appropriate to a B.A. (Honours) in Accounting programme.

On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

Financial Accounting Controls
Correction of Errors and Suspense Accounts; Control Accounts.
Recording of Transactions and Accounting Systems
Bad debts and provision for bad debts; Accruals and Prepayments; Capital and revenue expenditure; Non-current assets and depreciation; Use of an integrated accounting package.
Financial Statements Preparation
Preparation of final accounts for partnerships and companies (not in published format); Preparation of accounts from Incomplete Records.
Introduction to Ratio Analysis
Calculation and analysis of key profitability, liquidity and efficiency ratios.
