Module Description: The dissertation provides students with the opportunity to carry out individual research, into a chosen aspect of study arising from the course programme. The dissertation is a major aspect of the degree as it challenges students to fully demonstrate an individual understanding both of the depth and breadth of the subject areas. The dissertation will take the form of a substantial study in a subject area related to aviation, largely through the exercise of independent inquiry.

On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

Indicative Content
Dissertation Proposal
The student will submit a written proposal pertaining to the topic of their dissertation.
Project Plan
The student will submit a project plan outlining the dates which each of the project milestones will be achieved.
Background Reading.
The student will be required to perform some background reading to determine their dissertation proposal and for their literature review.
Gathering Research Data
An amount of time will be spent gathering data to support the dissertation. This data may be either qualitative or quantitative or a combination of both.
Write up.
The student will be required to produce a dissertation that is approximately 50 pages in length.
Reflective Journal
The student will be required to keep a journal where they can reflect on what they have learned through the dissertation process.
